چکیده

Sir: During screening for antioxidative substances, which are expected to be useful for chemotherapy of arteriosclerosis and ischemia, we have isolated new potent substances thiazostatins A and B from a culture of an actinomycete, Streptomyces tolurosus 1368-MT1, which was isolated from a soil sample collected at a field in Yamaguchi-city, Japan. Thiazostatin was formerly called AG551} and its producing organism has been deposited at the Fermentation Research Institute, Agency of Industrial Science and Technology, Japan, with an accession No. of FERMP-9144. The fermentation, isolation, structure determination and biological properties ofthiazostatin are described in the present communication. The antioxidant activity was measured by inhibitory effect against erythrocyte hemolysis caused by a radical producing agent, 2,2/-azobisOCT. 1989

Watasemycin biosynthesis in Streptomyces venezuelae: thiazoline C-methylation by a type B radical-SAM methylase homologue.

2-Hydroxyphenylthiazolines are a family of iron-chelating nonribosomal peptide natural products that function as virulence-conferring siderophores in various Gram-negative bacteria. They have also been reported as metabolites of Gram-positive Streptomyces species. Transcriptional analyses of Streptomyces venezuelae ATCC 10712 revealed that its genome contains a putative 2-hydroxyphenylthiazolin...

Watasemycins A and B, new antibiotics produced by Streptomyces sp. TP-A0597.

Two novel antibiotics, watasemycins A and B, were isolated from the fermentation broth of an actinomycete strain. The producing strain TP-A0597 was isolated from the seawater sample collected in Toyama Bay, Japan and identified as Streptomyces sp. based on the taxonomic study. The new antibiotics were obtained by solvent extraction and chromatographic purification and spectroscopic analyses ide...

Antioxidant and cytotoxic activities of metabolites produced by a new marine Streptomyces sp. isolated from the sea cucumber Holothuria leucospilota

Marine microorganisms are important sources for novel natural products. Hence, the aim of this study was to introduce marine microorganisms with the capability of producing antioxidant and cytotoxic metabolites. For this purpose, ten live sea cucumbers (Holothuria leucospilota) were collected from Larak Island, Persian Gulf. Then, their intestine contents were serially diluted and treated by he...

Cytotoxicity effect of secondary metabolites of Streptomyces koyangensis and Streptomyces tunisiensis isolated from saline soils of Garmsar City on human breast cancer cell line (MCF-7, IBRC C10082)

Background: Streptomyces is one of the most important prokaryotic microorganisms, and their secondary metabolites have high antimicrobial and cytotoxic properties. Three-quarters of the antibiotics known to be produced by these bacteria. As a result, finding new effective compounds from these microorganisms can be a way to treat cancer. The aim of this study was to isolate and screen halophilic...

Production of gold nanoparticles by Streptomyces djakartensis isolate B-5

Objective(s):  Biosynthesis of gold nanoparticles (NGPs) is environmentally safer than chemical and physical procedures. This method requires no use of toxic solvents and synthesis of dangerous products and is environmentally safe. In this study, we report the biosynthesis of NGPs using Streptomyces djakartensis isolate B-5.   Materials and Methods: NGPs were biosynthesized by reducing aqueous ...
